Mayor of Artik municipality Anan Voskanyan met with the members of SALAR International's Armenian and Stockholm offices: Project Development Director Erik Faxgard, Project Manager Halyna Lindh, Regional Representative Ieva Kalnina, Senior Project Manager in Armenia Varsenik Mnatsakanyan, Local Self-Government Advisor Garik Khachikyan, international expert Agita Kalvina and Project Coordinator Artsrun Pivazyan.
A working consultation was held with the participation of mayor, officials of the Artik municipality and representatives of SALAR International, during which issues related to the exchange of experience in the field of municipality development and education were discussed with the Swedish side. The representatives of the organization presented to the mayor the program of the Swedish Association of Communities and Regions (SALAR), which has been implemented by the latter's subsidiary company, SALAR International, since September 2022 and aims to support the Government of the Republic of Armenia in implementing decentralization reforms and strengthening local self-government bodies, based on local on the long and rich experience of self-government in Sweden and other European countries.
During the working talks, ideas were exchanged regarding the European experience related to political and administrative decentralization.
The mayor thanked the representatives of SALAR International for the visit, emphasizing the importance of such visits and the study of the exchange of experience with the Swedish side.
