On May 22, the DeaLoG project team visited the Akhuryan Municipality.
During the meeting with the Head of the Community, Mr Zaven Manukyan, the team-leadof DeaLoG project in Armenia, Varsenik Mnatsakanyan, presented the project’s objectives and main areas of focus.Garik Khachikyan, Local Self-Government Advisor, introduced the school-community cooperation format, as well as the steps being taken towards the decentralisation of the education sector.
As part of the visit to Akhuryan community, the DeaLoG project team also visited the newly built school in Kaps, which recently joined the school-community cooperation format.
Working discussions and methodological exercises were held with the participation of the Head of the Community, representatives of the municipal staff, and the school administration, aimed at strengthening the school-community partnership.
These discussions laid the foundation for a continuous and constructive collaboration.
During the meeting, key issues related to the independence and autonomy of local self-government bodies were discussed.
The Head of the Community, Mr. Zaven Manukyan, expressed a clear position, reaffirming his commitment to the philosophy and principles of local self-government.
An important part of the discussion focused on assessing the community's capacities and addressing the four key areas outlined in the decentralisation concept, which, upon successful implementation, are expected to be delegated to the community as part of its official competences.
In the second part of the visit to Akhuryan, the DeaLoG project team visited the newly constructed school in Kaps, which recently joined the school-community cooperation format implemented by the DeaLoG project.
